Early morning fire destroys 32 houses in Sandakan

The blaze destroyed about 32 houses on Sunday morning.

SANDAKAN: A total of 32 houses in Kampung Air, here were destroyed in a fire this morning.

More than 100 villagers were made homeless following the 5.20am incident.

State Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson in a statement said a man was reportedly injured in the incident, fortunately no fatality was reported.

The Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call at 5.28am and deployed 19 firefighters with three fire engines, a utility vehicle and EMRS vehicle.

“The fire which involve 32 houses in the areas estimated 0.8 hectares was put under control at 6.30am,” the spokesperson stated.
