Chelsea ask for summer swap

Chelsea will reportedly try to sign AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie in the summer, with Tiemoue Bakayoko moving in the opposite direction.

Bakayoko endured a tough start at the San Siro after joining on loan at the start of the season, but has since regained the form that saw Chelsea part with £40m to bring him to Stamford Bridge in 2017.

And though Milan do have the option to buy in the summer, the Blues are reportedly requesting that Kessie becomes part of any deal that takes Bakayoko to Milan permanently, according to the Daily Star.

Milan currently sit in the fourth Champions League spot, but would still need to qualify via the play-offs if they remained there at the end of the season, and any deal for Bakayoko would reportedly need them to secure qualification for next year’s competition. However, if Kessie were added to the mix, this could be a potential way for Milan to secure Bakayoko should they fail to make the Champions League.
