The families of MH17 victims called on US President Donald Trump to force Russian President Vladimir Putin to give answers on this catastrophe. This is reported in a letter that posted on Twitter by Thomas Schansman, whose 18-year-old son died in the crash of MH17.

“No country has claimed responsibility for the shooting down of the aircraft. At the same time, several obvious attempts were made to conceal what really happened on that terrible summer day. I mean attempts by officials of the Russian Federation, supported and repeated by President Putin,” the report said.

As you know, the Boeing-777 of Malaysia Airlines, following from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), was shot down in the skies over the Donetsk region on July 17, 2014. 298 people were on board, they all died.

The JIT group (Joint Investigation Team), which includes prosecutors and representatives of other law enforcement agencies of Ukraine, the Netherlands, Belgium, Australia and Malaysia, concluded that the MH17 flight airliner was hit by a 9M38 missile launched by from self-propelled fire installation BUK-TELAR from an agricultural field near the village of Pervomayske. That territory at that time was under the control of pro-Russian separatists.

Earlier U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker assigned responsibility for the MH17 tragedy in Donbas to Russia.

“Russia is responsible for that as it intervened and occupied this part of Ukraine,” Volker noted.

He said that the air defense system which shot down the plane, came from the Russian regular military unit. It was delivered from Russia to Ukraine, used to fire a missile, which shot down a civil plane, from the Ukrainian territory and then this system was returned to Russian military unit.

“And the question on who exactly pushed the button, a Russian or Ukrainian, a Ukrainian from Donbas or n officer of Russia’s Armed Forces, is actually less important, than the fact the this Russian military equipment, transported to another sovereign state under Russia’s control, sued to launch a missile which killed all these civilians and then taken from Ukraine,” Volker said.
