The Hanoi street-circuit will be part of the 2020 Formula One season. It is expected to be hosted in the month of April and will become the fourth street-circuit after Monaco, Singapore and Azerbaijan.
The track consists of 3 straights, one of which is 1.5 km long. The total length of the circuit is 5.565 km and consists of 22 turns. The design on the track is inspired from other circuits like the Nurburgring (Turns 1-2), Monaco (Turns 12-15), Suzuka (Turn 16-19) and Sepang (Turn 20-22). The speed trap at the end of the longest straight is expected to capture speeds of around 335 km/h. The pit lane misses out the first and last corners. The total time for a pit stop is also expected to be lesser than usual.
The Hanoi Feasibility Group had presented potential locations, track layouts and CAD data to F1’s Motorsports team which created a simulation model to carry out lap analysis. The final design was decided by F1’s Motorsports team, design team Tilke, City of Hanoi authorities, the race promoter and the FIA.
